5.15This part of the process would replace the current MCCD. Certifying the cause of death should continue to be required in the same circumstances as it is currently and must be done prior to disposal and embalming of the body (as we recommend in Chapter 6).
5.16Section 46B of the Act currently places a duty on the attending doctor to sign the MCCD. A number of practical and legal issues arise from that section. In the next chapter, we analyse and make recommendations on:
